Langrish House

Langrish House is steeped in history and will take you back to a bygone age but without foregoing all the essential conveniences of the 21st Century. The house offers an exclusive retreat venue, a home from home brimming with character. Home to the Talbot-Ponsonby family over seven generations, Langrish House is now owned and run by Nigel and Robina Talbot-Ponsonby whose aim is to combine the advantages of a quality hotel with the comforts of a family home. Every room enjoys beautiful views over the gardens. The house dates from the 17th Century. Family archives paint a picture of a jolly, bustling life entered around horses, dogs, cats, chickens and outdoor sports where great celebrations were held such as Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897. Langrish House is within easy reach of historic Portsmouth with its naval tradition, the Isle of Wight, Jane Austen’s Chasten, Highclere Castle (scene for 'Downton Abbey’), Stonehenge, Gilbert White’s Selborne, the National Trust properties of Uppark and Hinton Ampner, Goodwood Racecourse, Cowdrey Park polo and the ancient cathedral cities of Chichester, Winchester and Salisbury, and only 55 miles from London.

There are scenic walks for the energetic or you can enjoy the gardens and watch the wildlife relaxing under a shady tree in Summer or in front of a crackling fire in Winter. The restaurant, Frederick’s, has been awarded two AA rosettes for Fine Dining. Languish House, with its glorious gardens and historic setting, is an ideal venue for your retreat with us where private therapy sessions take place in a confidential and comfortable setting.
